Innovation Tour in Health ICT in the Basque Country

Igarle among the participants of this event held in Bilbao

This interesting conference, which took place on the 3rd of July in Bilbao with the participation of technological companies and health care companies and institutions, was aimed at fostering technological innovation in the health and social sector. During this meeting, organized in cooperation with the Cluster of Electronics, Computer and Telecommunications Companies from the Basque Country, GAIA-TEIC Cluster and the non-profit association, TICBIOMED, companies specialized in ICT presented different technological solutions covering various areas of health care.In turn, the Social and Health Care Committee, comprised of experts in the Health Care Department of the Government of the Basque Country, Osatek, University Hospital in San Sebastián, Asunción Clinic, IMQ, Gorabide, Aspace and Gautena gave their vision on the needs and possibilities that TEIC can offer to their sector. The event, which was opened by María Aguirre Rueda, Director of Research and Health Care Innovation in the Health Department of the Government of the Basque Country, was marked at all times by the social aspect of health care, emphasizing patients´ safety as well as technological developments which may be useful for improving patients’ quality of life.Special attention was drawn to persons with higher levels of dependence, such as the elderly and the disabled persons. Igarle is able offer many different solutions in the social and health care area.On one hand, it has been collaborating for many years with health care centers, implementing dashboards in different areas, relying on standardized methods and flexible development, which ensures its prosperity in those particular centers, being of great help in the decision-making processes in different departments and at different levels.On the other hand, at a social level, applications were developed to help disabled persons unfold themselves to the work sphere, as they increase their level of capabilities through technology. This meeting, situated between supply and demand, included interesting perspectives and was very useful for defining the lines of collaboration in the deployment of already existing products and services as well as in the design of new ones to meet the expressed requirements.
