The company was founded in 1981 and it obtained its status of operator in 1988. Since then Esergui is a point of reference for its innovative concepts: the ownership structure is made up of petrol station owners who take part jointly in the decision making concerning the company’s strategy. Agility: compared to the centralized and rigid structure of large multinational oil companies, Esergui’s profile is that of a medium sized independent and flexible operator. These characteristics allow us to seize opportunities offered by the main international markets, directly negotiating with refineries and obtaining competitive prices for our network. Activity: the headquarters and the central offices of the company are in San Sebastián (Guipúzcoa) where it was founded in 1981. Nevertheless, its most important installations are in the port of Bilbao, where Esergui owns a terminal for storing oil products and from where it distributes said products to its customers. This terminal is located inside the municipal terminal Ciérvana. Esergui functions as a company for import and distribution of oil products. Through supply contracts, it obtains petrol and gasoil from abroad (Russia, Algeria, etc…) which it imports by ship through the Port of Bilbao. Each month, many ships arrive loaded with fuel to cover its demands. The ships unload the fuel in the storage tanks owned by Esergui in the Port of Bilbao. These tanks are also united by Petronor’s oil pipeline from Muskiz in case it is necessary to obtain supplies from it. The capacity of Esergui’s storage tanks in Ciérvana is 150 million liters. The storage terminal is automated.
